Kiang East FC bought their ticket to the final of the ongoing Lower River Region (LRR) regional 3rd division after coming from behind to win Kinteh’s Eleven of Kanni Kunda from the penalty spot in the second Semi-final at the Soma Mini Stadium.
Kiang East put their noses infront courtesy of a goal from Yaya Sanneh in the 15th minute that sent the Kiang faithfuls into jubilation.
Every Kiang East faithful watching from the stands would have been dreaming of a second goal when Lamin Ceesay placed the ball on the spot before he missed it.
In the 25th minute, a defensive howler by the Kiang East team gave Kinteh’s Eleven FC a chance to level the scores through Muhammed Jobarteh’s tap in.
Abu Drammeh alias Pedro scored a dramatic goal in the 35th minutes that turned the tie in favor of Kinteh Eleven a goal that took them to the halftime break leading.
After the break, Yaya Sanneh put Kiang East back into the game with a powerful header in the 53rd minute sending the game to a post-match shootouts.
After a 2-2 draw on regulation time it was time for the nerve-wracking penalties shootouts which Kiang East won 5-4.
Meanwhile, Hart FC narrowly won Kiang West FC on the second Semi-final to proceed to the final after a post-match penalty shootout.
The final will now feature Hart FC against Kiang East FC on Wednesday 31st August 2022 at Soma Mini Stadium.
The winner would join the winners from North Bank Region, Central River Region and Upper River Region in the provincial playoffs.
