MOROCCO’S U23 HUMBLES SCORPIONS IN FRIENDLY MATCH

By Pa Furmus Correa

The October international break is on with some teams playing in the FIFA world cup qualifiers among others while others play friendly matches to occupy themselves after being knocked out.

One nation playing friendlies is the Gambia Male Senior National team Scorpions who were humiliated by the Moroccan U23 team in a friendly match played in Morocco.

Morocco’s U23 overcame the Gambia’s senior team by netting seven goals in Gambia’s net on a day goalkeeper Lamin Sarr was handed his Gambian debut.

The side which was captained by Fortune’s Ebrima Sohna saw Lamin Jallow and Ibou Touray return to the starting lineup as Sheriff Sinyan partners with Maudo Jarju at the heart of the defense.

Perhaps the positive from the thrashing is Barrow coming from the bench and scoring two goals to bring on the comeback fighting spirit which was later seen as a consolation for the fans who watch from their phones.

This thrashing is one of the bitter pills Gambian fans have to swallow as they showed their frustrations on social media about the thrashing.

This 7-2 thrashing now becomes the Gambia’s biggest defeat in their history leaving many fans in dismay.

With the team earning its first AFCON appearance this year after topping group D which consist of Gabon, Angola, and DR Congo, this defeat question how prepared the team is.
