Samger Fc handed Jarra West FC their 4th defeat of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) male 2nd division league season to move within a point difference with league leaders Jam City who dropped valuable 5 points in their past two matches to keep the top spot battle wide open for a grab.
The Academy boys who are currently sitting in the second position of the GFF league could still be leapfrogged by the promoted Falcons FC and fellow demoted 1st division side PSV Wellingara.
A win for Falcons in their game week 9 will see them level on points with leaders Jam city as they have a game lesser than the top spot occupants.
The top 4 teams of this year’s 2nd division will be promoted to the elite division and the nerves of playing in the elite division kicks in as the battle of the top 4 is on.
Despite Samger losing their head coach Sulayman Kuyateh; Samger FC manages to win their past matches, scoring for fun and keeping clean sheets.
Samger FC established in 2003 have been playing in the first division of the GFF male league and has recently been demoted to the 2nd tier due to their poor run of form leading to their relegation.
They are currently battling it out to gain a promotional spot in the first tier but face competitors as every team look hungry to grab the spot.
The top four of the table look to be changeable as Jam City have 20 points after 9 matches, Samger 19 points after 9 matches, PSV Wellingara 17 points after 9 matches, and 4th place Falcons have 17 points after 8 matches.
