GFF DIVISION 2: 4-Star Elite United Win to Temporarily Top, Waa Banjul Register First Win

Rampant Elite United ran riot in Nyamina after beating Gunjur 4-1 and temporarily moved to the top of the Gambia Football Federation division two table after week seven of the 2024-25 season.

It took Elite United only 13 minutes to take the lead through Robert Mendy before Agibou Dibba scored a first half braced to give Elite a first 3-0 lead.

Gunjur United grabbed a consolation goal in the second half of the match via Sheriffo Bojang right after Sulayman Trawally scored the fourth for Elite.

Elite United top the table standings with 15 points and a point ahead of second place Medina United having played a match more.

Elsewhere, Waa Banjul FC defeated fourth place Kanifing East 2-0 to register their first win of the season and ended Kanifing’s early unbeaten run at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field.

Reacting to the defeat, Kanifing East posted “we are proud of the effort and determination shown by the team, and while this setback stings, it’s part of the journey.”

The first win of the season for Waa Banjul sends them to 15th on the table with 6 points while Kanifing East sit 4th with 12 points.
