In a press release issued by the GFF stating the suspension of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) 1st, 2nd, and 3rd divisional league matches with immediate effects till further notices throughout the country.

The decision is the best as the virus is deadly and has no vaccine yet as some footballers and fans said through a voxpop.

Ousman Saidykhan a reporter of Gambian football and keen fan of the leagues says it is a wise step taken by the federation to have leagues suspended.

‘In as much as football is interesting and it brings unity in society, we have to also consider health’, Saidykhan said.

Ousman also advised everyone to see health as a number priority as health matters most in life.

No European football, no National Leagues footballs that will be hard for us to go through as some footballers and fans challenge the GFF decision.

To some football lovers the league should continue as football keeps them active and stay from problems and stress.

To some surprises the GFF took no chances to suspend the leagues and all sporting activities unlike some FA who waited for prominent personal to contract the virus before suspending the leagues.

The question of when will the suspended leagues and all sporting activities will be brought back continues, the Corona virus continues to spread and win more countries on its affected countries list?

The game that brought together more than 500 spectators is currently under suspension as the President declared no public gatherings for 21 days on his televised address the nation speech.

Whether the decision of the GFF to suspend all leagues matches to help limit the spread of covid-19 will be enough is yet to be known.
